Is Trade Wars Dead? This is a question we all have asked ourselves within our community, and obviously the answer is no. We are still playing and hosting the games, as long as we keep on coming back to play or host the game is still alive, and I hope we keep it that way, if my previous post helps out we may have some new blood in the games soon, I have to just wait and see on this, maybe we can save our game and keep it around a little while longer and may all our efforts to keep the game around not go without reward, as long as we promote the game and keep things alive in the game we keep the game a little while longer. But the key is to get new blood in the games and teach them the ropes and hopefully we may have more elite players to play against later on. I have posted in the earlier post where to go to get game info, scripts and helpers for all to see and for the new comers to go to to get if they want to try out our game and see if it is for them. I hope we all as a community can come together and help the new blood that comes into the game, hopefully from my blogs and others blogs, to become the new elite and pass on our legacy to them. Hopefully they will do the same when their time comes.
This is all we can ask of anyone, This game isn't for us to get rich on it is for us to enjoy and have fun playing and hopefully making new friends in the process.Which is the name of the game isn't it, well not literally. But you all get the point.
So lets welcome all the newcomers and players that come into the game from these blogs of ours and help make them at home in our games and on our servers and have fun with game play with the other players in the games so they will want to keep on coming back.

Trade Wars
Trade Wars, what is it? You ask, it is an old dos base text game that believe it or not, is still around today with many game servers located around the world, it is one of the first MMO games on the internet, and was around since before the internet and wold wide web, and is still fairly popular in some circles and has a player and fan base that still keeps the game alive, I will be surprised if some of the younger people on the Internet have ever heard of it, though in its time it was widely popular and had a massive player base.
Some of you are wondering what could an old text base game have to offer us? The games we play are fast paced and hard. Well if you really do believe that then you really don't know Trade Wars at all, even though it is an old text base game, it is a faster pace game than any game played today, with excitement and fun around every corner, with players that are extremely talented and creative.
The game if free to play and open to anyone who wants to play on any server out there, I happen to have 2 servers myself as well as played on many other servers, but the rule of thumb on sysops playing is this: A Sysop doesn't play on his own server, unless the players agree that it is okay, the reason for this is it would be easy for the sysop to cheat, by using the games editors to make things in his favor, though by rule, most sysops are fair and do not cheat, but to keep arguements down we don't play our own servers unless players who trust us ask us to play in a game with them.
The game is accessed by Telnet, you can use a free putty connection software or try a Trade Wars helper software to connect,
There are different kind of helpers out there TWX Proxy is free, and can be gotton from several Trade Wars forums, where they host file sharing, as well as the game scripts for it, it is by far the best of the helpers, and the fastest one of the bunch, then you have SWATH, and ATTAC, which are free to try and Pay to unlock the full helper, they have one thing TWX Proxy doesn't have, they have their own Telnet client programs built in them. But here is the fun part you can link TWX Proxy to them and use both helpers in a way that is crazy good. SWATH it a great graphical helper, ATTAC is the other one that is great, they both have their own built in scripts to play with and you can write and or find someone elses sctipts to add to them, coupled with TWX Proxy and all the sctipts you can get for it then you have something that may make you a really good player if you can figure out how to use it all, which is very easy, as the forums for the Trade Wars games have dedicated areas within them to help out players and especially the new players to learn how things work so they can go out and play and hopefully get to the level to be competitive with the players already out there. We have had some new players that have come in and have got to be very compeditive in the game. Some came from EVE Online and some from other games and have found they actually enjoy the game and have stayed to keep on playing.
The reason for this blog is to gain some new interest in this old game as the maker is working on newer versions of the text game and making things hopefully get better, though the original version is fairly popular now as it is. But change is welcome and appreciated as long as it keeps the players coming back for the games. As I said the games are free for the players to play, the sysops are the ones who have paid for the game servers to host them for the players. So for the free to play reason I hope all of you will want to play this game and keep it around for a long while. It is fun, addictive and very fast paced, and each servers sysop has many different edits of the game available and multiple games per server, with many different edits to offer the players of the game, some edits are custom made by the sysops themselves and some edits are very hard, some edits are easy, all catered for player enjoyment. At the end of this Blog I will give some websites for where to get Helpers and a few of the forums where you can get some help with the game to scripts for some of the helpers. We used to have a script repository but that site went down, we don't know what happened so we are using the forums now to make the scripts available to all now in more than one place.
So if you think you have what it takes, come on into the world of Trade Wars and see if you do, if you like it, stay and get the others to help you become the next great player of the game, what have you got to lose, it is free after all, and everyone likes something for free, don't they!
